Watching the underwater forests
From May 5th to 7th at various points in Mallorca there will be free events on marine citizen science and underwater forests; organized by Observadores de Mar and MedGardens.

Our goal is to connect the general public with the sea through knowledge and practice. To do this, we propose a variety of days that reach different sensibilities. 3 days in which you will learn from experts through presentations, but also through putting it into practice both on the coast and underwater snorkeling or diving. For those people who prefer to connect from the surface, there is also a catamaran trip planned.
The events are structured as follows:
Friday 5th
In the afternoon at the sports port de Port Adriano there will be a series of presentations on citizen science, marine biodiversity, scientific results, marine stewardship, among others. The program details the people involved.
Saturday 6th
In the morning, on Formentor beach, there will be an activity to recognize the brown algae Cystoseira s.l. All of them from the hand of MedGardens, Arrels Marines and Tramuntana diving.
In the afternoon, aboard the Life&Sea catamaran and thanks to the collaboration of TrueWorld, we will enjoy a journey through the bay of Palma where we will learn about marine protected areas run by the Marilles Foundation and, whoever wants to, can jump into the water and snorkel .
Sunday 7th
In the morning in Cala Bona, we will go diving with the Albatros diving center to carry out a census of climate change indicator fish. All this information will be used for the scientific project of 'Fish and Warming' of Observadores del Mar.
The activities are free thanks to the support of all the organizing and collaborating entities.

All the data that is contributed to citizen science helps to expand the knowledge that later feeds decision-making in management bodies. In turn, the awareness that is acquired helps society as a whole to also commit to greater marine conservation.
